Clippers beat Storm Chasers in 10 innings, win their 5th straight game

The Columbus Clippers (42-48) take the Omaha Storm Chasers (49-41) to 10 innings and win their 5th straight game in a row Wednesday night at Werner field 7-5.

The Clippers threw 5 pitchers Wednesday night, all combined for 13 strikeouts. Logan Allen started for the Clippers pitching 4 innings and getting 5 K’s. Allen has 21 strikeouts in his last 3 appearances for the Clippers. Jordan Stephens (2-0) gets credited for the win. Stephens pitched 2 innings and struck out 5 of the 7 batters he faced.

In the 2nd inning Connor Marabell got the Clippers on the board with an RBI, batting in Nolan Jones . 2 Batters later, and with bases loaded, Trenton Brooks was walked and Richie Palacios scored. In the 5th inning Gabriel Arias hit a 2 run homer, giving him his 10th home run of the season.


After 4 scoreless innings, the 9th inning ended with the score locked at 4-4 pushing it to a 10th. Pinch runner Tyler Krieger, brought in for Ryan Lavarnway, was started on 2nd base to start the 10th inning. Nolan Jones was up as the lead off and got an RBI as he doubled home Tyler Krieger. 2 batters later Jones scored on a single to left field by Gavin Collins. Jones was 2-for-5 and scored twice. Later in the 10th inning, Trenton Brooks was walked with the bases loaded (again) to score Andruw Monasterio giving the Clippers a 7-4 lead. Richie Palacios was also extremely valuable with his at bat going 2 for 2 and scoring 1 run for the Clippers.

Omaha would be able to find 1 run in the bottom of the 10th on a single by MJ Melendez, but that was all they could muster and they fell to Columbus with the final score being 7-5. The Clippers have won the last 3 meeting between the Storm Chasers. With this win the Clippers are now 1/2 game out of 4th place in the AAA Midwest division and it bumps The Storm Chasers to 2nd place in the Midwest, behind the Toledo Mud Hens.
