Connor Marabell & Ryan Lavarnway hit the long ball & lead the Clippers over Omaha 7-4

In the first game of their 6 game series the Columbus Clippers take the win 7-4 over the Omaha Storm Chasers. Anthony Gose (5-1), the 4th reliever and 1 of 6 pitchers for Columbus, was credited with the win after he struck out all 3 hitters he faced in the 8th inning. The Clippers also put on the mound J.C. Mejia, Kevin Herget, Kyle Nelson, Kyle Dowdy, Anthony Gose and Juan Mota.

Connor Marabell and Ryan Lavarnway each had a great game with the sticks. Each had 3 hits, combined for 6 RBI's and 3 runs. Marabell hit 2 home runs, 1 in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th, and totaled 4 RBI's for the game. Lavarnway homered again with a 2 run shot in the 5th inning. Lavarnway’s homer was his 11th of the season, tied for the team lead with Nolan Jones. Lavarnway is on a 6 game hitting streak that dates back to July 14, 3 days before he left for the Tokyo Olympics.

Andruw Monasterio, from the Akron RubberDucks, was assigned to Columbus Clippers on Aug.16th. Monasterio played great scoring twice and stole a base in his 1st game with the Clippers. Monasterio is someone to watch out for.
