Less than 24 hours after giving up 13 runs to the Storm Chasers, the Clippers shut out Omaha 4-0 in Columbus on Sunday afternoon. Starting pitcher Cody Morris made his AAA debut and pitched 4 innings, with Logan Allen closing the last 5 innings. Both pitchers combined for nine shutout innings. Morris struck out 8 batters through 4 innings and only allowed one hit. Allen allowed only 3 hits and struck out 6 batters over the final five innings. Allen has been on fire. That makes 16 strike-outs for Allen in his last two games.

The Clippers started the scoring early in the game when Daniel Johnson gave Columbus a 2-0 lead with a smashing 2-run homer in the 1st inning. Alex Call then pushed the Clippers ahead 4-0 with a 2-run RBI in the 2nd inning. Alex Call has been hitting great for the Clippers, reaching base in all five games he played in against the Storm Chasers. Call leads the Clippers with 12 runs scored in his last 12 games played and earned a .753 OPS for those games.

While Columbus built a 4 run lead through the first two innings, the Clippers defense kept the Storm Chasers from even reaching 3rd base. The Clippers, thankfully, were able come away splitting the six-game series with the first-place Storm Chasers. This is the third consecutive series that the Clippers have split the series by winning the last game. They also did this with Nashville and Iowa.

The Clippers record is now 37-45, they are 10 games back and are in 5th place in the AAA East-Midwest division. They will start their next 6 game home series this week against Toledo Mud Hens, who are 2nd place in the Division. They will play Tuesday 8/10 at 7:05 p.m. at Huntington Park.
